GREEN GRAPES TO BE CONVERTED TO RAISINS ARE TREATED WITH SULPHUR DIOXIDE GAS (S02)
A Pit is dug in an open space and ‘dolfeen’-Sulphur powder (Raisin Grade) is burnt In it along with black cotton
Surrounding this, the grapes are placed in crates and then the complete area is covered by all the slides
The heated Sulphur Powder forms Sulphur dioxide which helps grapes to convert into good quality raisins of Golden/Yellow Color. This Process is done for 12 hours approximately and is generally kept overnight to get better results
Later on, the treated grapes are arranged in a shed with few layers of net and are kept for drying for around 12-15 days and are then sun dried.
At the end ,the grapes are sorted out on the basis of their size
